Limited Edition by Nigel Shafran
For a limited time only, all Photoworks Limited Edition Prints include a free signed copy of an accompanying publication.
Acclaimed British photographer Nigel Shafran came to prominence in the 1990s for his new approach to Fashion Photography. Since then, he has shifted his attention towards a more intimate relationship between the photographer and the photographed. Shafran's photographs are quiet observations of daily life, often focusing on deliberately low-key subject matter. This edition has been selected from a new series entitled Compost Pictures 2008-9. Here, the subject is a closely framed corner of Shafran’s kitchen; a small purple bowl, containing organic waste ready for the compost pile. This understated and gentle image conveys an enjoyment of the ordinary, and at the same time offers a more abstract sense of light tracing over objects, of time slowed down to a stillness.
